The UK, as the name implies(United Kingdom)is a union of several nations, each having their own floral emblem: the rose for England, the daffodil for Wales, the thistle for Scotland, and the shamrock for Northern Ireland. I don%26#039;t know about Germany, but I think the emblem for France is the fleur-de-lys - literally %26quot;lily flower%26quot; although in reality it is a stylised iris.

Asters are ancient wildflowers of the daisy family. It is the flower emblem of France. In latin aster means star. It is known in France as The Eyes of Christ in France, Starwort in England and were thought to carry magical powers. In ancient greece, aster leaves were burned to keep away evil spirits. They were also laid in graves of Frenc soldiers to symbolize afterthought and the wish that things had turned out differently. It is a talisman of Love and the herb of the goddess Venus. Asters are a symbol of Love, Faith, Wisdom, Valor, Hope, Light and Power.


The rose is the flower emblem of England. According to English superstition, should the petals fall from a freshly cut red rose, bad luck follows. The red rose is the badge of the House of Lancaster and the flower of Eros and Cupid. In Wales, the white rose represents innocence and silence, and, as a result, is placed on the grave of a young child. To Native Americans, the white rose symbolizes security and happiness, and is often worn during wedding ceremonies. It is the badge of the House of York and the flower of the Virgin Maryskin disease
